\nExeter, Friday.\u00a0 At the usual hour this morning Mrs Winsor expiated her crime on the gallows.\u00a0 Thousands assembled in front of the gaol at a very early hour, and many had walked all night to see the execution.\u00a0 Great commotion prevailed, and it was evident that the crowd viewed the execution of a woman as a novelty, while they freely discussed the fiendish nature of the culprit, and expressed their total abhorrence of one who could make a business of murdering illegitimate offspring\u2019s.<\/p>\n

The horrible nature of the woman\u2019s crime (which needs not to be recapitulated here) so shocked the letter feelings of humanity, that when culprit and hangman stood side by side a fearful yell rose from the assembled crowd, and the excitement only ceased when the culprit, who struggled but little, ceased to exist.<\/p>\n

You mothers all, come listen to me,
\nWhile a dreadful tale I tell,
\nOf all she crimes upon this earth,
\nThis one that does all excel.
\nChildren\u2019s slaughtered fearlessly,
\nAnd by a woman\u2019s hand,
\nJust for the sake of getting gold,
\nThis woman you command.<\/p>\n

This dreadful woman, Charlotte Winsor,
\nTook children in to nurse,
\nA devil she was in human form,
\nWe could not call her worse;
\nShe would tamper with their young mother,
\nWith if you would like to pay,
\nFor a few pounds, say three or four,
\nI will put your child away.<\/p>\n

Those children belong to some poor girl
\nThat had been led astray.
\nMrs. Winsor would take them to nurse
\nAs long as they would pay.
\nShe would murder them \u2013yes, strangle them
\nFor this paltry gain,
\nBy putting them between beds,
\nOr pressing the jugular vein.<\/p>\n

What a must this wretch\u2019s feelings be,
\nWhile the babes on her would smile,
\nShe would kiss and feed them tenderly,
\nAnd murder all the while.
\nShe would tamper with their motuers (?),
\nAnd of them beg and pray,
\nWith get four pounds together dear,
\nAnd your child shall die to day.<\/p>\n

She stifled one just three weeks old,
\nJane Harris, she would say,
\nYou will never see them after,
\nThey will sink in the Torquay.
\nDead children tell no tales,
\nAnd cause no more strife,
\nAnd with children smiling on her,
\nShe would take away their life.<\/p>\n

No one knows this woman\u2019s crime,
\nThe God\u2019s a l eeing eye(?),
\nBut justice overtook her,
\nAnd for those crimes she died.
\nThe tempter and the murderess,
\nAs you will see by these lines,
\nHas gone to face their maker,
